Xiangming is Head of CEE, 15% involvement in research, training and supervision, is on carbon absorption and storage via construction materials, planting concrete, low carbon cement, cement-based functional & smart materials.
Torben LENAU
Associate Professor (DTU)
Torben Lenau has for the last 20 years been working with biomimicry and how to search for and incorporate inspiration from nature in the design of new products. He is responsible for DTU master course on the topic and has co-written a textbook on the topic for education. He also uses the biological inspiration for industry-oriented research and development work and is currently developing medical needles of plastic utilizing inspiration from the mosquito.

Antonia is an architect, expert in cement-based materials and innovative building systems and materials. Her activity in research transference is realted to novel construction processes from the sutainability approach, and standardisation procedures.

Luisa F. Cabeza holds a PhD in Industrial Engineering. She has published over 500 scientific articles on thermal energy storage and energy systems, covering various aspects from basic science to engineering solutions, economics, and sustainability. Her recent research also focuses on social problems related to thermal energy storage.

Paula is the CTO and a founding director of C8S. With over 20 years of experience in the field, she has contributed to the design, construction, and operation of three out of four operational ACT plants and manages research and development at C8S.

Leszek scientific activity is focused on the study of the mechanical properties of materials and their application to numerical models using FEM, as well as numerical analyzes of building structures under the influence of soil deformation.

She is an expert in upcycling mining and industry wastes into cementitious materials, as well as manufacturing low-carbon cementitious materials using microwave heating techniques. Her research also focuses on developing CO2 sequestration materials.

Clemente PINTO
Assistant Professor (UBI)
Clemente specializes in structural design using stones and eco-materials. He has expertise in the mechanical behaviour of brittle materials like rocks and concrete, as well as the path of forces in structural systems. Aditionally, his work focused the study of structural design of special structures, like shells and arches, based on the examples of some master builders and using the relationships between form, materials and paths of forces as a tool.

Manuel is interested in research in the electrochemistry of biosensors, focusing on developing sustainable materials and minimising the environmental impact of building materials. He also investigates leaching in building materials and its potential environmental impact.

Tim Pat McGinley
Head of studies Architectural Engineering, Associate Professor in Digital Civil Engineering (EngD).
Originally trained as an architect, Tim has worked on projects at a variety of high profile architecture practices including Foster + Partners in London, ONL [Oosterhuis_Lénárd] in Rotterdam. He has also worked as a researcher and educator at the Hyperbody Research Group at TU Delft, UniSA in Australia where he co-founded the Morphogenetic Prototyping Lab and Agile X Research Group. He is currently Head of Studies for architectural Engineering at DTU in Denmark. Tim’s research applies the evolutionary and developmental perspective of biology to model our built environment.

Victor is a civil engineer and materials engineer both from UPM. His doctoral thesis focused on the design and development of experimental tools for the dynamic characterization of concrete and subsequently he has dedicated his research to the mechanical characterization of materials subjected to high strain and impact velocities. Recently he has been involved in the design and characterization of mortars for 3D printing.

Grzegorz scientific interests are focused on the nonlinear analysis of structures and structural members. In his work, he uses his own software to analyse various problems solved with the use of the numerical methods. He has many years of experience in creating software (Delphi, C#, Python languages) for the analysis of structures and their cooperation with subsoil as well as theoretical analysis of the results of laboratory tests of structural elements.
